Sweater Weather: Ode to Charlie B!
Posted by Theadora Brack on Aug 28th 2023
What’s so funny ’bout peace, love, and some playful PDA grandstanding? Absolutely nothing.
Here at Scout & Molly's, we thoroughly enjoy wearing our heart on our sleeves, especially if the mood-boosting fit was created by one of our shop favorites, Charlie B. I could definitely feel my heart race when I spied Charlie B’s new fall collection of patterned sweaters and capes in black and white. This classic OOTD color combo is both a timeless wardrobe staple and an elegant statement ensemble. You can’t beat that, says my wallet. So get ready to express yourself because self-love is in the air.
But first things first.
Bit-O-history! After all, it wouldn’t be a proper Scout & Molly's heart-to-heart dispatch without a few fashion references to help elevate the experience. We have designers Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli to thank for courageously taking sportswear chic to the streets of France during the 1920s. After Schiaparelli was spotted having lunch after a game of golf wearing a black sweater with a white bow pattern knitted in, flappers worldwide followed suit, game or no game. A hole in one, according to the fashion reporters at the time! Two stars were born, darn it! “Schiap” and our wardrobe BFF: the sweater.
“The bow must be white against a black ground and there will be white underneath,” Schiaparelli wrote in her 1954 autobiography. “I wore it at a smart lunch and created a furor. All the women wanted one, immediately . . . Soon the Paris Ritz was full of women from all over the world in black-and-white sweaters!”
Ready to follow suit?
Check out our special collection of black and white sweaters, turtlenecks, and capes by Charlie B. I recommend pairing the pullover with fitted pants in black and white plaid or solid black. Then, because less is more (said no one), I’d add one or two of our heart-shaped necklaces by Virtue Jewelry. Phil Collins would definitely agree!
Got a question about sizing or styling? Give us a ring or a ding. Or stop by the shop! We’d love to help you spread the joy and embrace self-care throughout this season.
