The Power of Tulle

Here at Scout & Molly's, we’re always on the quest for OOTD BFFs—wardrobe treasures we’ll wear for years or even decades with the utmost pleasure, then pass along to a special friend or family member. Because honestly: sharing clothing with a story is caring.
For instance, we still remember the day we bought our very first tulle skirt. It was a triple-tiered number, and the wind in Paris was howling. However, like the Eiffel Tower, even with 40-km gales blasting between the buildings, we may lean a little but we don’t fall down. Though, after a near miss by a windborne teapot at the Porte de Vanves flea market, we decide to hightail it back to Abbesses for a glass of wine to celebrate our survival at the Paris fleas and some safe and warm indoor shop hopping. But that’s when we saw her. Just beyond the Café Bruant on rue des Abbesses, we spot a skirt sitting pretty in a nearby shop window. Even without a try-on, we knew we wanted it. Luckily, there were two in stock. So no fusses! Well-made and exactly right for a lionness’s share of me-time moments: impromptu dancing, reading, and writing, too. We didn’t hesitate but pounced on the skirt, plunking down the plastic, completely living in the moment. Because fashion should be fun!
Tip: Need more proof of the power of tulle? Dear Sex and the City fans, Sarah Jessica Parker recently revealed her favorite “Carrie” outfits. Topping the list was the sea foam tulle skirt worn in Paris as she raced from Aleksandr Petrovsky’s art opening to her fan club café book party. Even in the nighttime shots, the gauzy skirt pulls off an impressive air of e-motion as Carrie runs along the narrow rues to the beats of La Belle et Le Bad Boy by rapper MC Solaar.
Passion piqued? If so, take a gander at our special collection of rom-glam tulle skirts and slinky tops, too, by Choklate Paris. Since 1998, the France-based dream team has been creating statement delicacies, perfect for day or night. And like chocolates, we think you’ll find it difficult stopping at just one.
Keeping it ethereal: We’re certain Carrie Bradshaw would most definitely lose her head here. No biggie, though! We can all relate.
