New Year’s Eve Inspo: Wednesday Addams

New Year’s Eve Inspo: Wednesday Addams

Posted by Theadora on Dec 28th 2022

For the love of frills and thrills, here at Scout & Molly's, we’re always up for a new OOTD and dance bop combo. All prinked up in boots and multi-layered skirts in black tulle, we haven’t been able to resist tripping the blue light fantastic with the monster-worthy mash introduced by Jenna Ortega’s “Wednesday” character from the Netflix show by the same name. Not that we tried. Choreographed by Ortega herself after studying the 1981 “Spellbound” video by Siouxsie and the Banshees, the scene was shot in eerie blues by Tim Burton to the retro-rocking eighties classic “Goo Goo Muck” by the Cramps—a song originally crooned by Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads during the 1960s. What goes around . . . comes around . . .

Here’s the squeal

So for all you fellow super fans, we’ve created a special Wednesday-inspired, Reel- friendly outfit-to-die-for tip sheet, perfect for recreating Jenna’s Nevermore Academy Rave’N Dance on New Year’s Eve or on one fine snowy day in January. But first, here are a few more ice breaking tidbits to help elevate your party convos. For instance, did you know that the “Addams Family” started off as a cartoon in The New Yorker in 1938? Chas Addams’s popular (if delightfully gloomy) magazine drawings went on to inspire a TV show in 1964, with Lisa Loring playing our pigtailed “Wednesday” pal. Like Jenna Ortega, Lisa also had a few dance tricks up her LBD sleeve. The boss moves in her show-stopping “Drew” dance with Lurch are still a sensation.

Our Recommendations:

Wednesday, the Maven of the Rave’N Woe, What a Night! Because when the dance floor or TikTok calls, you’ve got to answer, so stick with the photogenic power of tulle in black. We’ve got blouses, dresses, and skirts.

Got a question about sizing? Give us a howl.

And to all you Enid Sinclair fans, stay tuned for another “Wednesday” style sheet. Prepare to Wolf Out on head-to-paw rainbow colored outfits, along with nail polish recs—snap, snap.
